A lot of discussion has been had over the past few days in the wake of Niall Carew’s departure as Manager of the Carlow Senior Football Team.
Although many felt that the tenure’s were chalk and cheese in comparison to results under previous Manager Turlough O’Briem, the stats certainly make for interesting reading.
Of course in many respects it is indeed like comparing chalk and cheese, but that’s more so down to the introduction of the Tailteann Cup and also the disruption of Covid 19 in 2020 and 2021 which does make it slightly more difficult to measure.
O’Brien stepped away during Covid in 2020 after five games had been completed in the National Football League.
Carew took the game against Sligo which they won and the last one with London was never played.
In 2020 there was one only Championship game for Carlow and the same in 2021 with Qualifiers gone due to Covid, while the League that year was split into North and South.
Nevertheless the League & Championship form is all listed below.
Championship in Turlough’s time of course consists of Leinster and All Ireland Qualifiers, while Carew had Leinster and Tailteann Cup in his metrics, the latter two years being group games while 2022 was knockout.
