Wicklow 0-15

Padraig O’Toole who has strong coffee enterprise connections in Carlow scored two points during this late surge to end Carlow’s involvement.

In a cautious and low-scoring first half, Carlow led 0-6 to 0-5 and possibly could have been further ahead.

Ross Dunphy and Aaron Amond popped up with noted scores in the half.

Liam Gavin had two good goal opportunities for Carlow but sadly weren’t converted.

His clubmate Eric Molloy did goal for Carlow in the second half but when Jamie Clarke was dismissed it seemed to have an impact on things late on.

Still Carlow led until the final minutes of normal time but Wicklow held their composure and worked the scores they needed.

Carlow boss Niall Carew stepped down after the game.
