By Stephen Bambrick

A good start for Eire Og with them 1-4 to the good by the 10th minute set the platform in Tinryland for their progression to the Junior B semi final.

Philip Hegarty”s 1st minute goal (injuries to Padraic Coughlan and Michael Meaney soon after were a blow for Old Leighlin’s hopes) added to by Shane Murphy (3)and Eoin Myers before an Eoin Bambrick free in the 12th minute in reply.

Myers notched his 2nd in the 15th minute with Old Leighlin getting the better of the 2nd quarter, Marc Corcoran called on to deal with some tricky ball before Michael Meaney (Blackbush ) with (3) , Liam Coughlan and a Mark Brennan free also got on the scoresheet, Murphy and Liam Ryan (2) for Eire Og ensuring they headed for the interval 1-8 to 0-6 to the good.

Ryan and Myers had the gap out to 7 points before Michael Meaney gave Old Leighlin a lifeline burying past Marc Corcoran with the same player adding a point all in the 37th minute for 1-10 to 1-7 to Eire Og.

The next score was probably the clincher as Liam Ryan gave Aaron McDonald no chance to restore an Eire Og 6 point lead in the 44th minute, Murphy adding Eire Og’s 3rd goal in the 50th minute after Mark Brennan and sub Ruairc Murray had swapped scores, 3-11 to 1-8 with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Eire Og’s bench provided their remaining scores through Shane Corcoran (2) , Murray (2) and Ryan O’Grady with Mark Brennan’s 2nd free and Derek Butler’s hard work rewarded for Old Leighlin with a goal in reply leaving Eire Og to advance on a scoreline of 3-16 to 2-9 to the semi finals.
