Carlow got off to a great start on Sunday, with five unanswered points.
Leitrim kicked their first score 15 minutes into the first half.
Not long after, Leitrim found the back net and Carlow were down to 14 as Niamh Murphy was given a yellow card for a drag down in the square.
Carlow were up by one at the break leading 0-8 to 1-4.
But Leitrim came out in the second half and upped the ante.
After Leitrim hit 1-4, Rachel Sawyer found the net for Carlow.
Leitrim looked to add to their tally towards the end, but keeper Nicole Hanley pulled off a fantastic save.
But unfortunately, Leitrim were just that bit more physical than Carlow on the day.
Carlow worked up until the final whistle.
They will head to Feohanagh/Castlemahon in Limerick this weekend for a 12 o clock start in search of a draw/win to get them into the NFL Semi-Final.
