On Sunday the Carlow Minor Camogie team emerged victorious against Dublin in the Leinster Minor B Shield Final by 2-5 to 0-4.

Shane Murray is a mentor with the side and he was very pleased with the win.

"Delighted with the win the girls really played well on all fronts.

"There's a big effort going in by all the players. We started back at the end of December to give girls a break as our own club games finished late at the back end of the year in November, so we wanted to let them come back interested and hungry." he said.

Murray along with the rest of the Management team consisting of Des Ward, Ann Kavanagh, Noel Lillis and Mary Tracey are pleased with the progress so far.

"There's 26 girls on board with us and all clubs in Carlow are represented so we are happy with that response." he added.

Attention now shifts to the All Ireland series.

"The All Ireland championship is starting the 3rd of March. We have Kildare at home, we're away to Kerry and then away to Down also. There are 4 teams in each group and there is another group with Westmeath, Armagh, Kildare and Meath.

"We are hopeful that we will go well. Carlow Camogie is going well at moment a lot of girls are going into the u14, u16 and u18 teams at the moment so it s a good sign for the future." he concluded.

With the Carlow Senior side putting in a big performance away to Derry last weekend, there is lots to be positive about for Carlow Camogie at present.
