The Intermediate & Junior grades are serving up some really good contests.
Carlow Town made little of having to play 3 games in a week as they saw of Bagenalstown Gaels in Round 2 of the Carlow Intermediate Hurling Championship.
The sash men beat MLR last weekend and went down narrowly to St Martin’s of Muckalee in the Kilkenny Junior Hurling League Final on Thursday evening. It didn’t deter them against B’town and they ran out 2-18 to 1-15 winners.
Their clash with St Mullins on Sunday is sure to be tasty after they racked up yet another big score in defeating Naomh Eoin by 6-16 to 3-8. That’s 10-26 now in two games for the Saints in the IHC.
The last game of the past week’s round is on this Tuesday evening with Kildavin/Clonegal travelling to take on MLR in Borris at 7.30pm. Both sides are looking to get off the mark in this year’s Championship.
Then for this week proper, it all starts on Friday evening with Bagenalstown hosting MLR at 7.30pm.
The game mentioned above between Carlow Town and St Mullins currently has a 2pm throw in time on Sunday in Bahana.
While at 7pm Sunday, Naomh Eoin host Kildavin/Clonegal in what is sure to be another game to draw excitement in this prospering grade.
At Junior level it was a comfortable 0-20 to to 0-10 win for Burren Rangers over Ballinkillen. Burren now face Naomh Eoin on Sunday with all the games set for 12.30pm starts. Naomh Eoin lost out at the weekend by 1-22 to 1-4 to MLR.
Having seen off Naomh Brid by 2-14 to 0-13, it’s a home clash with Carlow Town for St Mullins this Sunday. Naomh Brid for their part will travel to MLR.
MLR will also play Carlow Town before Sunday’s clash with Naomh Brid. That one is scheduled for 8pm in Carlow Town on Tuesday evening.
