Carlow Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 2

MLR 1-16, Kildavin/Clonegal 1-14

Late points from Ben Bolger and Pauric Kavanagh gave Mount Leinster Rangers the spoils in this well contested Intermediate encounter in Borris on Tuesday.

The visitors looked set to claim a draw when sharp shooter Daryl Roberts popped the equaliser with full time fastly approaching.

But Bolger put MLR one up and then was fouled for the free which P Kavanagh converted and that was that.

The first half is where both sides registered green flags. P Kavanagh for MLR and Roberts for Kidlavin/Clonegal, although the visitors could’ve had a second had it not been for some rotten luck with Jake Nolan’s effort hitting the bar and Pascal Nolan’s rebound mimicking the initial effort bizarrely.

Rangers led 1-9 to 1-7 at the break and were 1-12 to 1-9 ahead with 15 minutes to go.

Jake Nolan and Kevin Shepherd kept the scoreboard moving throughout along with free taker Podge Ryan.

Pauric Kavanagh was tidy at the other end and it was fantastic to see Denis Murphy back in action where he finished with 0-3 to his name.

It’s a clash with Bagenalstown tonight (Friday) at 7.45pm for MLR, while Kildavin/Clonegal face a tasty trip to Myshall to face Naomh Eoin on Sunday at 7pm.
