Late Derry goal sees off spirited Carlow effort in Camogie League opener

A gallant effort wasn't to be as Carlow Senior Camogie team just came up short to last years All Ireland Intermediate Champions Derry at Owenbeg this afternoon.

An early Kate Nolan goal set the tone for Carlow and at half time they led by 1-4 to 0-5.

Derry upped the ante in the second half and despite this Carlow only trailed by two points approaching full time.

However a late Dervla O'Kane goal sealed the deal for the home side.

It was a real honest effort from Carlow with massive work rate.

Those impressing on the day included Kate Nolan, Michelle Nolan, Niamh Canavan and Aoibhe Kiernan.

Next up is a home game against Offaly on Saturday 24th of February at 2pm.
