Setanta Ceatharlach unveiled their new Raths Londis sponsored Jersey before their annual Fun run on Sunday, September 8 “The new Setanta Jersey represents two commonalities with Raths Londis, our sponsors,” explained club chairman Padraig Kenny, “the family and progression”.
“We are a family club welcoming members since 2011, Raths Londis our Jersey sponsors from the start. We pride ourselves as a family club with a welcome to all Hurlers and Camogie players who pass through the gates of Presentation College” continued Padraig. “Every player, parent, guardian or friend coming into Setanta is met with a warm hello. We are a diverse, multi-cultural inclusive family at Setanta. Like the Raths Londis family business always growing, we at Setanta are a growing club too with numbers up to 400 members.”
The Raths family are integral part of the club too with three of James’ and Jenny’s daughters playing Camogie from U10 to Junior. “We are proud to continue with the Raths family sponsorship of a complete set of new Jerseys from Nursery to Junior Camogie and Hurling. We were delighted to be joined at the launch by our local TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor and by Linda Kenny from Carlow Camogie – both of whom have shown great support to our club” stated the chairman whose own family have a long and deep involvement with the club, Deirdre Nolan serving at officer level.
Indeed when Setanta made their first appearance in 2011 in Ballinaboley the U-8s wore the jerseys of Ballymahon, Co Longford, a tribute to their late father Paddy who was an inspiration to the Setanta founders.
The second alignment with Setanta and Raths Londis is progression. “Our new Jersey is a modern design that shows growth and advancement. Raths Londis company continues to grow and we strive to progress too. Our Camogie side is competitive from all ages and is competing in Junior Camogie with a goal to win the Junior Camogie Cup within the next couple of years. Our Hurling side too is growing from Nursery to U14s with a Setanta U16 and Junior Hurling team in the plans for next year,” Padraig told those in attendance at the Presentation College. “Off the pitch, our club is progressing with our Irish language and cultural officer helping coaches mentor as Gaeilge and our participation in Scor competitions. Our club is part of the Healthy Club Initiative for 2024. Our Club has a dedicated Coaching Officer to help our coaches become better coaches which in turns develops better Hurlers, with help from Carlow GAA through Brendan Hayden GDA Setanta welcomes the Raths Londis sponsorship of Jerseys and hopes both club and their shop continue to grow”.
