Mullen has expressed his disappointment at the decision
Tinryland Chairman Bernard Mullen has voiced his disappointment at the decision of the Carlow Competitions Controls Committee to reject their appeal in relation to Sunday’s draw against Bagenalstown Gaels in the Carlow Senior Football Championship.
A win would’ve put Tinryland into the Quarter Finals but now they must face Eire Og in this year’s Senior Football Championship relegation decider.
Video footage appears to show Niall Lowry’s first half effort dissect the posts, but the score was not given.
A key element in the case appears to be wording of the rule below from the Official GAA Guide particularly (n) (ii)

It seems that the decision is based on the score not being allowed in the first place which is in line with (n) (ii) above.
Speaking on the back of the decision, Mullen said:
“It’s a major sense of disappointment at being dumped out of the championship in this way. It’s heartbreaking for the team and management as they have put a lot of time and effort into this year.
“There are many questions that need to be answered around this whole affair, but for now we have to get behind the lads and concentrate on the huge game that we now face,” he said.
Mullen wasn’t in a position to confirm if the club were to take any further action but admitted they would consider all options available to them.
The background to the issue was discussed on this week’s podcast after the game on Sunday evening – see below.
